Suwannee County VINELink Coverage
VINELink is the public web door to Florida VINE. That is the state's custody status and notification service. Florida Department of Corrections material describes VINE coverage across all 67 county jails. The service reaches all 67 county jails. It also includes FDC and the Department of Juvenile Justice. That statewide reach is why it works after a Suwannee County Jail booking. There is no separate Suwannee SAVIN portal and no sheriff-branded VINE page. Pick Florida in the national service instead of hunting for a local product.
The service answers one narrow question. What custody status is reported for a person right now? Can a user get notice when that status changes? VINE may report a facility and current status. Tentative release information can appear too. It may also flag a release, transfer, escape, death, or community-supervision event. It is not a list of every Suwannee County arrest. It also is not a booking-photo archive, charge table, police report, or court docket. SmartCOP stays the better source for these. It covers a local booking number, booked charge, bond line, arresting agency, and public adult photo.
The Florida custody search screen on VINELink shows the national service. Use it to pick a state. Then start a person search.
VINELink searches by name rather than showing Suwannee County booking photos.
Check a Suwannee County Arrest
Start with enough facts to separate people who share a name. Exact spelling helps. But a name is not a unique identifier. A SmartCOP booking number belongs to the local jail event. A VINE or corrections identifier may point to a custody record in another system entirely. Weigh the reported facility and any age or identity facts. Confirm the current status before trusting a match.
- Open official VINELink and choose Florida as the state.
- Select the person or offender search offered by the interface, then enter the name or identifier requested.
- Review all possible matches. Use added identity facts and the reported facility to avoid choosing a person with the same or a similar name.
- Open the likely record and read the status, facility, identifier, and any event details together. Do not treat one field as the whole record.
- If no match appears, check spelling and the selected state. Then check Suwannee SmartCOP or call the jail when the timing matters.
A search can miss a person whose intake has not yet reached VINE. It can also miss someone held outside Florida VINE. For the local record itself, the Suwannee County recent-arrests hub explains SmartCOP and booking photos. It also covers sheriff records requests, court follow-up, and the line between county and state custody. Match the source to the person's current stage. Do not assume every arrest creates the same public result.
Note: Match the facility and identifying facts before registering; a shared name can otherwise attach alerts to the wrong custody record.
Suwannee Custody Result Fields
VINELink fields describe custody and notifications. The exact display can change by agency record and interface state, though Florida materials support the core status and event categories. A tentative release date is not a promise. Holds, court orders, paperwork, transfers, and later agency action can change what happens or when.
| Field or event | How to read it |
|---|---|
| Custody status | The status currently supplied to VINE. Confirm urgent changes with the holding agency. |
| Facility | The reported jail or state institution, which helps distinguish county from FDC custody. |
| Identifier | A record identifier used to separate matches. It is not a court case number or finding of guilt. |
| Tentative release | An expected date when supplied, subject to change and separate from actual release notice. |
| Transfer or release | A status event that can trigger an alert. A transfer is not the same as release from all custody. |
| Supervision change | A reported change tied to Florida community supervision, not a new county booking. |
A local arrest leaves several records behind. SmartCOP may show booking time, number, status, bond, charges, agency, holds, and a photo control. VINE concentrates on present custody and later events. The Suwannee County Clerk holds court material. The Clerk states its court records are not online. An early booking or a VINE result cannot explain how a case ends. Dismissal, acquittal, diversion, withheld adjudication, or a plea each tell that part of the story. The SCSO SmartCOP Jail Search shows the local booking controls. Those controls complement a VINE status check.
Its booking and release date fields answer different questions from VINE's custody-change alerts.
Register for Florida VINE Alerts
Registration is free and confidential under the current Florida VINE brochure. Routes include the website, mobile app, phone, text, email, and TTY. A one-time lookup creates no alert. Tie registration to the correct person or custody record. Choose a delivery method the user can safely reach.
- Find and open the correct Florida custody record before choosing the notification option.
- Select phone, text, email, mobile, or another method offered by VINE, then enter the requested destination accurately.
- For phone registration, call 1-877-VINE-4-FL, which is 1-877-846-3435, and choose a four-digit PIN.
- Follow the confirmation prompts. Keep the PIN private because it confirms receipt and helps manage the phone registration.
- Repeat the registration process when VINE instructs for another person or custody record. One alert is not a countywide watch.
The Florida brochure lists 1-866-847-1298 for TTY access. Labels and methods can change. Follow the prompts the current service shows. Phone, text, or email alerts can help a person plan around a reported release or transfer, but no channel is foolproof. A missed call, outage, wrong digit, full inbox, or late agency update may delay notice.
Note: VINE registration tracks a selected record; it does not create a general alert for every new Suwannee County booking.
Verify a Fresh Suwannee Booking
VINE and SmartCOP receive data for different jobs. The SmartCOP default is labeled “BOOKED Last 24 Hours,” and records show booking times down to the minute. SCSO publishes no guaranteed update interval, though. Intake, fingerprinting, photo work, classification, charge entry, review, and data transfer can each add lag. An arrest from moments ago may be absent from both public interfaces. Staff may still be processing the person.
For a booking that just happened, start with the Suwannee County 24 Hour Arrests view. It shows who was arrested and booked most recently. A blank result is not the end. Call Suwannee County Jail at (386) 364-3595 and confirm the extension you need. The sheriff site also posts (386) 364-3778 for jail contact. The SCSO public-records custodian handles booking records kept on file. That custodian is Traci McCormick at (386) 364-3417. Why would VINE look quiet after an arrest? Someone released from the Suwannee County Jail can drop out of the default in-custody view. The booking record still stands. A person sentenced into state custody moves into FDC systems instead. A transfer can also change things. The last local record may point at a facility the person has since left. None of this is strange. It is just how an intake snapshot, a live custody report, and a later court record differ.
County, State, and Federal Custody
Suwannee County Jail handles booking for local agencies, including SCSO and Live Oak Police Department. Its roster is the closest local arrest source. The Florida Department of Corrections works differently. Its custody records start only after someone enters state prison or state supervision. VINE can pull data from both stages. Even so, the two should stay separate in your mind.
The FDC Offender Search is the official locator for people serving Florida prison sentences or living under state supervision. It will not replace a fresh Suwannee County arrest search. Plenty of people arrested in Suwannee County never show up there at all. A state profile sometimes lists identifying details and a photograph. But that depends on the record. The FDC search screen itself shows why a state offender record and a county booking are not the same thing.
Save the FDC tool for one stage. It works only after a person has actually moved into state prison or supervision. It was not built for ordinary jail intake in Suwannee County.
Federal custody sits outside Florida VINE completely. The Bureau of Prisons, the U.S. Marshals Service, and ICE each run their own systems and policies. A local hold can hint that another agency is interested, but it proves nothing about where the person actually is. Check with the agency that holds the person. This separation matters. Silence from VINE does not rule out a federal or immigration placement.
Suwannee Status Is Not Disposition
A custody alert tracks movement inside a corrections system. It decides nothing about the charge. "Booked" means the jail finished an intake record. "Released" means the person left the facility or custody state shown. "Transferred" means custody moved elsewhere. Disposition is different; it is the court's outcome, which could be dismissal, acquittal, withheld adjudication, diversion, a plea, or conviction.
- Booking
- The jail intake event that creates the local identity, charge, bond, and custody snapshot.
- Transfer
- A move between facilities or agencies, not proof that all custody has ended.
- Release
- Departure from the reported custody state, which may still involve court terms or supervision.
- Disposition
- The later court outcome, which cannot be inferred from an arrest record or booking photo.
Charges listed after a Suwannee County arrest can change as the case moves. The Suwannee County Clerk reports that local court records are not online, so the final result must come from the appropriate criminal division. A VINE alert, a SmartCOP entry, a booking photo, or a custody status will never answer that question.
Note: A release alert closes a custody question, not the court case; verify the final outcome with the Suwannee County Clerk.
