Suwannee County Recent Arrests
One public SmartCOP application, run by the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office, handles both new bookings and the full jail roster. The default view reads "BOOKED Last 24 Hours." That screen is the natural first stop for anyone believed to have entered Suwannee County Jail recently. Booking and intake for the whole county happen at this one jail. The Sheriff's Office, the Live Oak Police Department, and other agencies all bring arrestees there. Each result shows the agency that made the arrest. The booking entry itself, however, comes from the jail.
Both feed windows draw on this single system. There is no second roster. The default screen answers a same-day question; the booking and release date fields build a custom multi-day view. Adult results typically include photographs. Either way, what you see is a booking record, not a court outcome.
| Window | Best use | Key limit |
|---|---|---|
| Booked last 24 hours | Newly processed public bookings and current status | A fresh arrest may lag during intake |
| Booking date range | A several-day or custom booking search | No official maximum archive depth is published |
| Release date range | People released during a chosen period | Release from the default view does not erase the record |
For the same-day window, see the dedicated 24 Hour Arrests page. The Arrest Log explains the wider date-search method instead.
When Suwannee Arrests Post
SmartCOP stamps each booking down to the minute. Publication, though, follows no promised schedule. Intake is real work. Staff verify identity, take fingerprints and a photograph, classify custody, enter charges, and sync the public system. A name search right after an arrest can return nothing while that processing is still underway. Weekend, holiday, and busy-period schedules stay unpublished too.
The practical sequence is simple. Check the last-24-hours view, hit "Load more results," search by name, and try again after a reasonable wait. When timing matters for a legal or safety reason, call SCSO at (386) 362-2222 or the jail at (386) 364-3595. The sheriff footer also lists (386) 364-3778 for jail contact, so confirm the right extension first. The official SmartCOP search displays the controls and the current result format.
The page offers a search tool rather than a photo gallery. Booking entries appear one lookup at a time.
Note: A missing immediate result is not proof that no Suwannee County arrest occurred.
Search Suwannee County Jail Roster
The Suwannee County Jail roster answers more than "who is in jail." Its controls support identity searches and booking or release date research alike. Start with a last name. Add a first or middle name when several people match. Date fields narrow an event. "Search For," sort, and order settings reshape the returned set. Click "Load more results." The first screen rarely holds every match.
| Search field | How to use it | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Last, first, middle name | Find a known person | Age, booking number, agency, and date |
| Begin/end booking date | Build a custom arrest window | Booking time is not incident time |
| Begin/end release date | Look for a past release | Check holds and court status too |
| Search For, sort, order | Choose the result type and sequence | Read all returned pages |
Open a likely entry and compare the details. The booking number, MNI number, age at booking, status, and arresting agency all matter. So do the charge table, bond, and any holds. MNI means master-name index. It is an identifier inside the jail system. A hold is a separate reason release may be delayed. The print control preserves a working reference, but a printout is not a certified record.
SCSO publishes no stated update interval, historical limit, or photo-retention period for the roster. HomeWAV covers jail visitation, not inmate lookup. The sheriff's office lists no booking app. Its Facebook page is a news channel rather than a full roster. For ongoing release or transfer alerts, use the separate VINELink Check.
Where Suwannee Arrests Appear
Official channels should lead any Suwannee County arrest search. SmartCOP holds the booking snapshot. SCSO or the arresting agency keeps the releasable agency records. The Clerk holds the later court file. The Clerk states Suwannee court records are not online. Florida Department of Corrections and federal locators apply only after custody moves into those systems.
- SmartCOP, official
- Current and date-range county booking results, including photos on public adult entries observed.
- SCSO and arresting agency, official
- Booking records, photographs, arrest reports, and releasable source documents by focused request.
- Riverbend News and WTXL, news
- Selective reports and context, not a complete or fixed-cadence arrest list.
- County-local index sites, unofficial
- Busted Newspaper, RecentlyBooked, Mugshots.com, Arrests.org, Mugshots.zone, and Muglist may copy or archive entries.
Third-party arrest pages can be incomplete, stale, or just wrong. Some keep an old booking photo after the county view has changed. Treat them as discovery sources only. Verify any match against SmartCOP, SCSO, the arresting agency, and the court record. Historic Suwannee Democrat scans preserve an older weekly arrest-record tradition. Old newspaper pages cannot show current custody. The local news pattern is distinctive. The Riverbend News Jail Report runs the closest thing to a current blotter. It publishes selected stories weekly or irregularly. The official roster remains the base record.
Suwannee County Arrests by City
Suwannee County has just two incorporated municipalities in the cited Census table. Live Oak runs its own police department. But arrestees there still book into the county jail. Branford works differently. Current SCSO patrol information says sheriff's deputies cover the town. Neither city publishes its own booking-photo feed.
- Live Oak Recent Arrests covers the split between Live Oak Police records and the county SmartCOP booking entry.
- Branford Recent Arrests covers SCSO patrol, county booking, and the absence of a town police blotter.
Wellborn stays unincorporated, so it never appears as a third city here. For both cities listed, the Suwannee County arrest roster is the shared official starting point for recent arrests.
Suwannee County Arrest Record Fields
A booking marks the jail intake that follows an arrest. SmartCOP logs that moment as a custody snapshot. The time shown reflects intake, not when the underlying conduct occurred. A charge description captures what was typed in at intake, so a later amended charge, dismissal, diversion, sentence, or expungement will not appear there. Read each record's fields together for the fullest picture.
| Field | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Name, race, sex, age | Booking identity details that still require a careful match |
| Booking and MNI numbers | Identifiers useful in a focused records request |
| Booking date and status | Intake time and whether the entry says “In Jail” |
| Bond and holds | Release-related entries, not a promise of immediate release |
| Charges and case number | Statute, description, degree, level, and court reference as entered |
| Arresting agency | SCSO, Live Oak Police, or another agency tied to the entry |
| Photograph | An intake image available on public adult records observed |
Bond is money or another condition tied to release from jail. It settles nothing about the charge itself. A disposition is different: it is the court's final result, such as a conviction, acquittal, dismissal, or withheld adjudication. Keep the two stages distinct.
Suwannee Mugshots and Booking Photos
Adult SmartCOP entries for Suwannee County offer an "Enlarge Photo" control. That is a display feature. It is not a promise that every booking photo stays visible. SCSO publishes no separate policy covering which images appear or how long they remain. A juvenile restriction can hide a photo. So can a sealed record, an exemption, a technical problem, or simple roster roll-off.
A county mugshot and an FDC offender image serve different purposes. SmartCOP covers local jail intake after a Suwannee County arrest. An FDC profile covers someone sentenced to state prison or placed under state supervision. It may include a photograph when one exists. A new county arrest never automatically becomes an FDC record. For state custody questions, use the official Florida Department of Corrections search.
Treat that form as no substitute for the county's current booking roster. Can a missing photo prove no arrest happened? No. Search by booking details, then ask the records custodian for whatever booking record or image can be released.
Request Suwannee County Arrest Records
The formal route runs through the Suwannee County NextRequest portal. For SCSO material, Traci McCormick serves as Public Records Custodian at (386) 364-3417. Narrow requests work best here. The booking photo may sit with the jail. The arrest report may sit with Live Oak Police or another agency. And the disposition may sit with the Clerk.
- Name the person, approximate booking date, and arresting agency. Add the booking or case number when known.
- Identify each item sought, such as the booking record, public booking photograph, arrest report, probable-cause affidavit, or release record.
- Select the relevant department in NextRequest or contact the SCSO custodian. Do not send duplicate requests.
- Ask the office to cite any exemption and release the rest with needed redactions.
- Watch for a clarification or cost estimate. Anonymous requests may receive no portal update and can close if clarification is required.
Florida generally lets you inspect records at no cost. Copies carry statutory rates. The law allows up to 15 cents per one-sided page, 5 cents for the second side, and up to $1 for certification. Other formats can be billed at actual cost. Extensive clerical or technical work may also justify a reasonable special service charge. SCSO sets no fixed booking-photo price and no universal response deadline. Ask for an estimate and partial production when it helps.
Note: NextRequest portal materials may be deleted under portal practices, which is not the same as destruction of the source record.
Florida Arrest Photo Law
Florida Chapter 119 opens public records. It protects exemptions for juvenile, victim-related, confidential, sealed, and expunged material. Public access and constant web display are separate things. SCSO may keep a releasable arrest record even after SmartCOP stops showing it.
Florida Statutes section 901.43 targets commercial websites that publish booking photos. A person or legal representative may send a written request by registered mail. The request goes to the publisher's registered agent. It should identify the image and ask for free removal. The covered site has 10 calendar days after receipt. It may not republish the photograph. Nothing in the law forces a government office to erase a lawful record.
Correction, sealing, and private-site removal run on separate tracks. Fix errors with the source agency first. Sealing or expungement generally starts with an FDLE Certificate of Eligibility. A petition to the proper court follows. The certificate alone changes nothing. FDLE lists a $75 nonrefundable application fee. It estimates about 12 weeks for review, subject to change. Eligibility rules and the court's decision still control the outcome.
Use a private site's free correction or opt-out route only when one applies. Save the URL, booking number, request, and any certified order. Never pay an intermediary promising deletion. Once the source changes, the Google outdated-content process can refresh the search result.
Suwannee Juvenile Arrest Records
The jail page says it can hold juveniles adjudicated as adults. That narrow statement does not make every juvenile arrest or photo public. FDLE notes that juvenile access is restricted. Sealed or expunged records stay closed in the ordinary course. Victim information may also be withheld or redacted. So may other protected facts.
Never infer age, legal status, or availability from a roster search alone. Ask the custodian what may lawfully be released and which exemption covers anything withheld. A blank SmartCOP result has many possible causes. It does not prove a record was expunged.
Suwannee Warrants Without a Gallery
Warrants in Suwannee County start at the sheriff's office. The SCSO Warrants Division processes court warrants and enters the notices into the required local, state, and federal databases. Its caseload runs wide: bench warrants and failures to appear, orders of arrest, orders to take into custody, probation or community-control violations, capiases, contempt, bond revocation, rules to show cause, and pickup commitments. The unit works weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Records questions go to Traci McCormick at (386) 364-3417.
The county itself hosts no warrant-search portal or most-wanted gallery. The Clerk sends warrant questions straight to the Sheriff. For a wider net, the official FDLE Public Access System searches selected statewide wanted, missing, and stolen records. FDLE refreshes that data at least every 24 hours. It also warns the public against acting on a listing alone.
The statewide system is no complete Suwannee County warrant list. Nor does a hit prove any arrest happened.
Anyone checking on a possible warrant should call SCSO, the court, or a lawyer. A warrant can be served, recalled, or changed after any database update.
After a Suwannee County Arrest
A jail record is only the first layer. Suwannee County's Clerk keeps court records off the internet. The official outcome takes a call to the criminal division at 386-362-0500. You can also visit the Clerk at 200 South Ohio Avenue in Live Oak. The county sits in the Third Judicial Circuit. The process can move through first appearance or arraignment, bond review, formal charging, and motions. A plea or trial and final disposition come last.
Arraignment is where the charge and the plea come up. A prosecutor may decline to file, amend or dismiss a count, or offer diversion. The Third Circuit State Attorney covers pretrial intervention and deferred prosecution. Successful completion can end with charges dropped or dismissed. So an arrest entry alone never answers the final question.
- Booking
- Jail intake after an arrest.
- Bond
- A financial or court-set release condition, not a judgment.
- Disposition
- The case result recorded by the court.
- Expungement
- A court-ordered legal remedy available only when eligibility and procedure are met.
The arresting agency's report may hold facts and dates that SmartCOP skips. Request it from SCSO, Live Oak Police, or whichever agency the booking record names.
Suwannee Custody Across Systems
Each custody system answers a different question. A just-booked person lands in SmartCOP. A move to Florida state prison or state supervision puts them in the FDC search. Federal prison time means the Bureau of Prisons locator. Current ICE custody uses the ICE detainee locator. None of these form one universal arrest archive, and each updates on its own schedule.
The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal inmates from 1982 forward. It lists name, register number, age, race, and sex. Location and release date appear there too. It publishes no public booking photo. An ICE detainer is a federal request that can affect release. It is not a local charge.
SCSO holds a 287(g) Warrant Service Officer memorandum with ICE. That deal does not make every Suwannee County booking an immigration detention. Check the roster's separate "HOLDS" block. Ask SCSO for releasable detail. Use ICE's exact-identifier search only for ICE custody. Do not read immigration status from a name, race, or photograph.
Older Suwannee Arrest Records
SmartCOP offers wider booking and release date fields. Yet SCSO publishes no stated maximum online range. Public visibility can end while the agency still keeps the source record. Florida's GS2 schedule governs law-enforcement and correctional materials. It covers arrest reports, affidavits, booking and release records, warrants, photographs, bonds, orders, and dispositions. Retention runs by record series and event. It is not a promise that a photo stays online.
Start with the custodian. Ask SCSO for the jail booking and photo. Ask the arresting agency for its report. The Clerk holds the court result. FDC covers state custody. Use the right federal agency for federal records. Historic Suwannee Democrat scans show what the paper printed at the time. State Archives and Florida Memory can assist broader research. No digitized SmartCOP archive or Suwannee corrections collection exists online.
Does release erase the booking? No. Release can drop a person from the default list. Date searches, agency records, and court files live on under their own access and retention rules.
Note: Online roster visibility, agency retention, court access, and private republication are four separate questions.
